If you arrived in San Jose and want to visit the beaches as quickly as possible, you will most likely take Highway 27 towards the province of Puntarenas. This is a very long province, full of fun options along the entire coast.
Puntarenas centro
The capital of such a cool province has to be full of friendly locals, with options for going out at night in case you have to wait for the next ferry boat to Paquera or Naranjo to get to:
The trendiest option of the moment, a surf town with an international community collaborating and living without rules
The surfer's paradise
Boca Barranca
It's the closest wave from my house, that's why I call it the backyard. It is also the second longest left in Costa Rica and is one of the most famous longboard waves in the world. A spot that I really enjoy!
Jaco
A friend told him the national surf stadium and I liked the description. It is the tourist beach closest to San Jose, ideal for learning to surf but with waves to bring the World Surf League; I lived there for a couple of months.
Hermosa
Our world surf reserve, 2 hours from San Jose. It is a long beach, full of trees and beautiful; with waves along the entire coast at high and low tide. A beach for a slightly more advanced level of surfing
Esterillos
Esterillos seems like a very mythical spot to me, a few kilometers from Jaco with waves in all directions. Sometimes it has magazine tubes, that's why I have respect for it, but a great place to surf and be calm.
Dominical
Another surf town with an international vibe, full of small restaurants and bars. You can surf in front of the most touristy street, but for now I prefer Dominicalito; The sea seems a little calmer to me.
Manuel Antonio
Maracatan
Uvita
A tourist beach town with a lot of potential. It has been growing little by little but always maintaining its tranquility. The Envision Festival takes place here, one of the experiences that I most recommend to festival goers.
Bahia Ballena
Pavones
An earring I have and a surfer's paradise. A remote location near Corcovado National Park
Corcovado
Isla del Caño
The jewel of the Pacific, surrounded by whales, sharks, turtles and thousands of other species. One of the best places for diving and snorkeling. It is visited from Bahia Brake and the easiest way to get there is by taking a ferry from Sierpe.
